Just do something!
Aug 10, 2020I was driving to my office last week. There is an intersection just as you get off the highway, right by the fire department. Depending on how the light is timed, you either stop at the light or you keep moving forward. On this particular day, there was a huge truck blocking the entire road. I sat there for a few minutes trying to assess the situation. Then my impatience got the best of me. I decided to take an alternate route to the office (a direction I had never taken). There was no traffic in that direction and
I ultimately ended up turning in to the parking lot of the football stadium. THAT WAS NOT the intended destination. I turned around and headed back the way I came, confident the truck had moved by now. WRONG! Now I was even further back in the line of traffic than I was before. What could have been a 5 minute wait had now turned into an additional 15 minutes.
In my eagerness to “keep it moving,” I wasted time. I had to back track to a place I had already traveled. My new starting point was further back than where I was originally. Here’s the lesson. Patience is indeed a virtue. It’s a biblical principle that holds true in most situations. Don’t be so eager to just do something that you just do anything.
